Le Nautilus - Menton

Meal came quickly and quality was good. Service very attentive. Would happily recommend and come back again

We chanced upon this restaurant yesterday evening as most restaurants were closed in the area on Wednesdays (or perhaps as it was almost the end of the summer season not open evenings . There were several people in the lounge area having aperitifs or snacks and we were the only ones to sit down for a meal (always a bit worrying when you 're the first, or only, people! . The waitress came quickly to give us the menus and there was a varied choice from mains to pasta and pizza etc. We opted for a steak tartare, moules and frites and a fish, provencale style. As there were 3 of us and were undecided between a half ot the house wine or a litre the waitress suggested 3/4 which was perfect. The food came after a reasonable time and was all nicely presented, fresh and good quality. The frites seemed to be hand made and deliciously crunchy. The waitress offered to clean the fish off the bone for our son which was appreciated. We had dessert and the 'cafe gourmand ' (which I 'd never heard of is an espresso served with a selection of mini desserts see photo. The bill came ot 70 euros for the 3 of us which I believe is excellent value for this area and location almost on the beach.

Having no idea which restaurant to choose in Menton, we happened upon the Nautilus and were pleasantly surprised. The seafood selection is very good with fresh products. The terrace is very nice with sun or shade depending on your needs. It is a little walk from the center along the beach promenade and very close to a small beach where you can go for a swim before or after your meal. There is a free parking right next to the restaurant which can get quite full on busy days. The service was very good even though the waiters can get a little overwhelmed sometimes.

Great selction of sea food and shell fish. Overlooks a road which can be a little noisey, howver the service is great
