I ordered the salmon, while my wife chose the filet; both dishes were well-cooked and beautifully presented. My only critique would be that they could have used a bit more seasoning, at least to suit my palate. The turtle pie and apple pie for dessert were definitely worth saving room for! Overall, I highly recommend this place and would love to visit again. Plus, Gettysburg is just a short and scenic drive away for nearby activities.
I attended a family gathering for lunch at this restaurant. Although we didn't stay at the inn, I can share that our lunch experience was enjoyable and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. They currently don't have a wheelchair ramp, but they were very accommodating in assisting my wife with access to the building. I've heard that a ramp is their next project. If you appreciate historical venues, this place is definitely worth a visit. Service: 5/5
The building itself is stunning and the location is ideal, but the decor is outdated and resembles tired thrift store furniture, which does not match the elegance of the venue. Also, be aware that there are no TVs in the rooms, though that didn’t bother us. Unfortunately, the customer service left much to be desired. Many guests were unaware that the kitchen would be closed for a wedding when they made their reservations, forcing them to seek alternative dinner plans—some prior notice would have been appreciated. That evening at the bar, we were all asked to leave abruptly at 9 pm because the bartender felt tired. This didn’t sit well with anyone, especially since no one wanted to drive to another bar after having a few drinks. We simply wanted to relax with some drinks and go up to our rooms afterward. Again, a heads up would have been nice. The staff seemed to lack professionalism in their attire and appeared poorly trained, particularly when it came to table service. Breakfast was a major disappointment—clearly prepackaged and warmed up food, with overripe fruit that was far past its prime. Given the price and the claim of being the most upscale place in town, the experience was severely lacking.
Just want to thank Tomi for a very enjoyable visit. Room 4 was great with our very own balcony! As for Byron's restaurant, the dinner was outstanding! Our server Emma was awesome. A window seat with candles and classical music playing made it a magical evening to celebrate Christmas. Donna and I stayed here over a year ago. It was very nice to be back at this special inn again in December 2022. A small suggestion, please add Ruby Port or Sherry to your limited alcohol selection at your bar. Rooms: The rooms are very clean and unique. Luxury for a turn of the century mansion. Walkability: There is no elevator. The steps are easy to navigate. Food drinks: Food and Drink was exceptional.
