The thema follows the current trend of the raised cantina, but does it better than most other places. the menu is the traditional Mexican fayre of tacos, lechon etc. and as with all good (and bad) cantinas, they will bring snacks with their drinks while waiting for them. for me this is a special joy. I am not a fan of guacamole, but here they make a wonderful plate of a guacamole with mild chilis and a local cheese with obligatory tostadas. it is without doubt the best snack dish that I had for a very long time. my daughter tends to order the mango tostadas, which in a real cantina would be a bowl of tostadas and a plate of mango and lemon slices. chichi have a great version, the small round tostadas with cube mango, cheese, swirling and lemon juice. they are simply great enough for me to fit in my mouth, go in one, and a delicious. both children will eat them happy all day and a teller of it is more than enough to fill a seven-year-old. I had the shrimp tactics before and the lechon. both in turn, stacked by a centro cantina, but both updated to be qualitatiw high quality food. the garnels are huge, and the tacos burst with them. it never stops surprising me how big garnels here are compared to the tiny things that happen as garnels in the uk! I can't judge it high enough. made at home (or so they seemed) tortillas that are hot, and the softest gay imaginable. I'm not too sharp on the loop when it's in lechon. they call me old-fashioned, but I like a blackening grilled and crispy, not soft and emptied, but that's me, no reflection on eating. overall this is a really good restaurant. by far my favorite in mérida. we have eaten in most restuarants along this stripe, including the hyper-recommended nectar and la gloria (a different raised cantina), but for me chichi is better than both. both gloria and nectar seem to depart from the fact that they are fashionable among méridas nouveau riche, which is suitable for the summer to chixculub decamp. both do good eating, but they are both very expensive (for mérida) and also not compared with chichi. if they want to be seen under the In crowd, gloria is for them. If they want a fantastic meal with excellent service, chichi is the place for them.
