Frankly, I was pretty oblivious to the new world of donut frenzy. Stores ordered to stop trading because the queue for donuts was causing traffic jams? Yes, this scenario exists even in the world of vegans, just as prevalent, in fact, as it is in mainstream dining. So, now I’m warning you: Don’t get in the way of manic vegan donut eaters on the way to All-Time Coffee. And if you really want to enjoy some vegan donuts of your own, you’d better be there early!
Gotta love a new little find. This place has been open for a year but keeps a relatively low profile, which is something I like in my cafes/restaurants. We stumbled across their drool worthy Instagram and thought the vegan doughnuts were surely too good to be based on the Gold Coast but we were in luck! First thing Sunday morning saw us there ordering a vegan ham, cheese and tomato toastie, one jam doughnut, one 'not 'tella doughnut, a chai latte and a long black. It all tasted sensational. I love the fact you can have your meal vegan or not, the only other place I have seen that on a menu was in LA. So very well played, All Time Coffee. We will be back!
A number of new eateries have opened along the stretch of the Gold Coast Highway that runs through Mermaid Beach. One of them is the All Time Coffee Company. We stumbled across it by accident on a wander after dining at Muso Ramen. It is quite low-key, just lettering in gold on the darkened glass window announcing the name of the place. It doesn’t grab your attention as you drive by, but if you’re walking past, the people wandering in and out will.
I have been stalking their IG for months, drooling over their donuts and toasted vegan sandwiches. And boy am i glad that it tastes just like I imagined. I got the fairy donut for kiddo (frosting tasted like dunkaroos) and a no tella donut for me which was divine. I also tried the chicken, avo cheese toasted sandwich which Tastes exactly like you'd expect my meat eater hubby didn't even realize he was eating a vegan toastie. The place is cute but not much space to eat in.
