It’s located in one of my fav spots in Virginia, the mosaic district. The food is just at average. The mimosa was good. We ordered the grapefruit flavor. There are also plenty of vegetarian choices. I really like the atmosphere and vibe in the store, plus the service was super nice. There was also no waiting line on Saturday for brunch, which is convenient for us, super hungry and just wanting to eat right away. This review is more about the poor customer service for take out orders at this location District Ave. The food was OK but it is not worth the hassle to find parking near this restaurant, be charged an extra fee, have my car seat ruined by the food, and get disappointing customer experience. The only reason I 'm rating this two stars and not one is because I like True Foods (the brand) at other locations. This location is physically like other True Foods restaurants it has an open floor plan from front through to the back kitchen. The bar is located near the front of the restaurant to the left of the hostess area. I might have come back to try the in person dining had I not gotten bad customer service. Regarding the takeout order service, I was ignored twice, they looked at me directly in the eye and scanned me up and down (I was dressed decent), and they did not respond to my question which was simply hi where can I pick up my order? Mind you I 'm not talking about a very large waiting/hostess area. One of the staff came out with a takeout order from the back of the restaurant and was looking for the person who ordered. I asked her and she I ignored me less than 1/2 foot from my face. The other hostess was less than 2ft away. When I finally got the attention of one of them, she pointed to a stand by the bar which was close to the entrance but not visible when you walk into the restaurant. She did not ask my name or tried to check that my order was there no friendly demeanor. My order was fairly large compared to what most of their patrons in the restaurant were probably ordering. At other True Foods, I would have been asked by two or three people at that point if I needed help. I am not accustomed to poor customer service at True Foods. To make this insult even worse, I got charged more than $12 for a convenience fee in addition to my order app fees. I don 't recall being charged such a fee at other True Foods where I picked up my own orders through the same ordering process. Maybe this is new type of charge? I suggest they rename the convenience fee or state upfront what this fee entails. The takeout materials might be partially environmentally friendly but they do not hold up well be aware and prepared that the sauces from the food will leak through the paper containers before you make it home on the long. Take some Bounty napkins or something that will absorb the bottom of the bag so it does ruin your car. I don 't seem to have this issue with other True Foods because they 're usually nearby and they use double containers for the heavily sauced foods. Hopefully they will improve the customer service here as other reviews have described similar takeout experience. I will continue to patron True Foods at other locations (in other states) but not this District Ave one. If you do decide to try this place, I hope you have a better experience than me and you 're able to find parking much easier. Thanks for reading.
