We drove 1,5 hours to eat here based on the reviews and we were so disappointed it’s almost like we went to another restaurant. The decor is typical Portuguese, rather cosy with a fire place. As we live on the coast and it’s winter we felt like a nice drive and a ‘farmers’ lunch with some game. We reserved on a Sunday for lunch but the place was only half full. The staff doesn’t speak English and neither was the menu of that day, you’ll need Google if you don’t want any surprises like we did : . We drove down here especially for the game, but the only game dish (boar stew had finished. Can happen. We asked for a stew in general and black porc from the oven. After trying to eat the bread that was so dry it could break a molar, we were served a cow or veal snout stew. Apart from not being very keen on snouts for lunch the stew was steaming hot and rather tasteless like it was heated in a hurry. The black porc and chips on the other hand were served cold. Wine was fine, prices low like you’d expect. Staff was very grumpy and not very attentive. You can find better places than this..
Highly recommended. beautiful eating, friendly host cesario) and waiter (daniel,) authentic Portuguese decoration, and loads of sharp and chat! What else could they ask for?
Typical Alentejo food. We order Mista de Porco Preto com Migas (assorted of pork stakes with panada) and dear. Both were very juicy and tasty. Portions are very generous and price quite fair. The room is all decorated with all different tools and motifs from the region. Service is just friendly and efficient.
We ate very good food, clearly from local produce, with plenty portions (we took one for two of the main course). Alentejo is known for its slow pace and maybe this isn’t the place if you are in a hurry, but the food is good and service is honest.
