Our first takeout from Whistlestop was very oily, with grease dripping everywhere. We had to use paper towels to clean it up, and there were many bones in the fish, which was very disappointing. Maybe dining in would be a better experience, but we will not be ordering from there again.
The fish and chips at this restaurant are delicious with generous portions. The staff is very friendly, especially the young lady behind the counter, who is a bit mischievous but adds to the charm of the place. I make it a point to visit this restaurant almost every week.
Not the most friendly people who say the least, but the food is quite decent for the daily Takehome tariff and the portion sizes can not be criticized, unlike restaurants post lockdown.
Had cod and chips here for a very late lunch for Eat Out to Help Out. There are now only 2 tables for eating in as tables must now be well spaced for social distance. The welcome was friendly from the pleasant young man. He...brought condiment bottles of tomato ketchup, mayonnaise, vinegar, salt but for us the food was sufficiently fresh and well cooked so as not to need anything except salt. The large £6.70) fish, and chips have forgotten the price) were satisfactorily sized portions and all was freshly cooked to order. Everything was crisp and the batter on the fish was not too thick just right, in fact. My companion remarked on how clean the premises were, and how sparkling clean and clear even the glass front window was. We would return, probably for takeaway.
