Waffle House - Mesa

I would give this place a zero-star review if it were possible. They claim to be open 24 hours, but when I arrived on Tuesday at 5 AM, I found a closed sign on the door. Even though there was someone inside working, I tried calling to ask when they would open. The employee saw the call and looked out the window but completely ignored us. We ended up heading down the street to IHOP, where we received outstanding service.

The staff who work late into the night maintain a wonderful and friendly demeanor as soon as you step through the doors. A big thank you to everyone for making us feel so welcome!

Our waitress Alma was fantastic, brought our food quickly, made sure we had everything we needed and checked back often. Another waitress, however, was randomly yelling out and making sudden noises like she was mentally ill, as she paced back and forth behind the counter and did nothing more than cause a disruption to everyone in the restaurant. Management should be aware that her antics are unacceptable and will cause diners to not return. It's a shame she ruins it for others like Alma, who work hard taking care of customers.

I had breakfast with a friend and boss. Upon entering, we were greeted and quickly seated. We both ordered the all-star special, but the waffles arrived last and weren't hot enough to melt the butter. When I placed my order, I mentioned to our server that I needed sugar-free syrup, but I had to remind them several times after our food was served.

The food didn't sit right after eating here This coupled with the not so pleasant staff and the freezing cold air blowing on us doesn't make for a good memory. We chose this place for the nostalgia of the name and now it would take a lot of convincing to go back. Sorry Waffle House! We are open to trying another location sometime!
