On my last visit, I ordered the Island Tilapia with rice and beans and the cream of pumpkin soup. Everything was delicious, and I still wish I had more room for dessert. My next visit will absolutely consist of ordering their bread pudding. I really enjoyed the lemonade also. It had an interestingly unique flavor, and I am again regretting that I didn't order one to go. I am looking forward to returning especially for their live entertainment.
I heard so many good things about Breeze's from friends, so naturally I had to check it out with my friends. We came on a weeknight, when the restaurant appeared to be less busy. It is a relatively small establishment, but it is clean and well taken care of. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly by the hostess, who directed me to where my friends were waiting. There was a performer singing oldies and covers of newer songs, which provided a nice ambiance. I got the jerk chicken and they got the Breezes appetizer sampler. Let me just say how much I appreciate when the chef makes the food spicy and means it!! That jerk chicken fell right off the bone and flavoring was juuuust right. I didn't leave a single crumb behind. I paired it with one of their alcohol free cocktails (safe sex on the beach cocktail) which tasted amazing. Toward the end of our dinner, the chef came out and greeted all the patrons personally, which was nice. Overall, it was a great experience and can't wait to come back!
I was kind of shocked by my experience based on all these 5 Star comments. I found the servers to be incredibly friendly and welcoming, but the other areas fell short. We started by sharing the appetizer sampler and the pholourie. I was kind of underwhelmed. The catfish in the app sampler was very tasty, everything else was average. I had the spinach curry as an entree same underwhelmed feelings. Several people at my table got dishes that had roti and complained that it was very dry. For dessert we shared the creme brûlée and the rum cake both flat out disappointing. I didn 't find that anything was outrageous I need to go back here again. I went with a large group of people (9) they sent the entrees out 2 by 2 and it literally took 10 minutes for everyone to be served, so many of us sat in front of our hot food waiting for others to be served. A few of us had to ask for water refills several times before receiving them. It was a little too warm. And while the live entertainment was GREAT, the place is a little too small to maintain a conversation while the entertainment is playing at that volume. We told the wait staff about this concern; nothing changed. I hesitated to write this review because the waitstaff were incredibly kind and friendly, but the experience as a whole was still 3 Star.
It 's Thursday evening with out of town guests who want to experience Topgolf but request oxtails and curry chicken before we go. Unfamiliar with the area I did a few Google searches and reviews and came up with Breezes. Reviews seemed pretty good so we decided to go for it; OH NO they close at 5 per Google but their website says 9 and it well was after 7. Welp, let 's call... Junior answers the phone advises the kitchen closes at 8:45, with an hour drive ahead of us we needed to get a move on. We arrive around 8:20 Junior grabs a high chair for my son, provides us with menus made some great suggestions and was polite the whole way through. The 18 month old kept saying hello and Junior kept smiling, waving and speaking back. We didn 't leave out until about 9:35 and they close at 9 and never felt rushed, all food was hot and tasty. We had 2 oxtail dinners, one curry beef and one curry chicken, all consumed with no complaints. Although it 's a ride for me when I want oxtails and don 't feel like cooking I would take that ride. Breezes has great atmosphere, customer service and both the employees and food have personality. Definitely a to do!!!
Comfortable and cozy. Breezes is authentic and a nice surprise in Metuchen! There are a variety of options from ackee and saltfish, curry, and more. If you like Caribbean food, you'll definitely find something here! I love the spicy chicken and vegetable soup. It has a perfect balance of spice, brother, seasoning, and there are pieces of chicken, vegetables, potatoes, and dumplings throughout. If you don't typically go for spicy, it may not be your thing and if you like spicy, you will enjoy it without having to get something to drink each taste. They will give you warm coconut bread, which gives a nice sweet balance to the spice. I also like the ackee and saltfish. It comes with boiled banana and dumplings. Not too oily, as it can be places, and a good flavor overall. I wanted to add some spice, but didn't. It got more flavorful with leftovers so I didn't add anything. Fresh dessert options and juices. I like their homemade ginger beer good, fresh ginger spice, and perfect if you feel sick. Live music on Saturday evenings from 7 10pm and live music and buffet brunch on the first Sunday of the month. Definitely go and enjoy!
