We enjoyed the amenities even after checking out, but the valet charged us an additional fee that wasn't disclosed at checkout, which I wish had been made clear. The cleanliness of the rooms could have been improved too. Although we upgraded our room, it didn't feel very spacious. We attended the SLS Pool party, and since we were hotel guests, they didn't charge us for entry, which was a nice bonus.
Pros: The poke bowl was delicious, although a bit small for a bowl. The watermelon in the feta salad was enjoyable. Cons: The basil in the watermelon salad had a strange taste and would have been better if it had been substituted with mint. Overall, I would definitely come back!
However, on the fifth night—a Sunday, after Art Basel had ended—a massive party attracted a disruptive crowd from all over Miami. When we returned from dinner on Ocean Drive, the atmosphere was overwhelming. At 11:47 PM, we heard a lone announcement over a speaker urging us to evacuate. There was no second announcement, nor did we receive a call in our room. Attempts to reach the front desk were futile; it either rang without answer or was busy. After a brief wait with no further announcements, I peeked into the hallway and saw other guests descending the stairs. Once outside, we found staff standing around silently while partygoers poured out of the side of the building. Some older guests, still in their robes, waited by the stairs until the police arrived and told us, along with the party crowd, to move a block away due to a bomb threat that seemed to be aimed at the party. When we asked the hotel manager what we should do, it was clear they were flustered, leaving us to figure things out on our own. There were no instructions for hotel guests who had paid over $500 a night, leaving us unsure of where to go amidst the chaotic scene. A police officer mentioned that clearing the building could take until 4 AM. I called SLS management in downtown Miami to seek guidance, but they advised us to wait and assured us it wouldn’t be long. By 3 AM, after waiting a block away, it was evident that the hotel was still not clear, so we decided to check into the Hotel Gale South Beach for the night. The following morning, we packed our bags and headed to the airport to go home. We received no apology or any form of compensation for our troubles. I later learned that nobody was allowed back inside until after 4 AM. While I understand the necessity of evacuating due to a bomb threat, what is truly disappointing is the lack of customer service for the guests who paid a premium to stay there. I would recommend looking for other excellent hotels along Collins Avenue instead.
Worst service I've got in my life, went to the hotel and wanted to park my car at the valet, he told me 50$ without tip, I told him I'll look for another spot and after not finding I came back, he told me now it's 60$ because of supply and demand, unfortunately I had to agree, when I came back to pick up my car the guy let me wait for 55 minutes until I got my car, I missed my reservations for dinner while he was there laughing, worst service experience I've ever had
Recently came to SLS for a pool day. The food was very good. I got the watermelon salad and my friend got the chicken sandwich and ceaser salad, definitely recommend. The pool set up is very clean and organized. The service is very fast and extremely nice. I was here on a thursday and it wasn't crowded at all, very peaceful.
