A duck was served in a paper-to-go container that made it uncomfortable to eat at a table The Torta had much too much sprinkled cheese and it overwhelmed the other ingredients. Save for the guacamole the food lacks taste. The pitcher of Sangria was generous and very good and for poor food quality.
Beautiful terrace, very pleasant service, good food.
I acknowledge that South Beach Miami can feel a tourist restaurant series. I thought Matilda was inspiring. Yes, it was a rainy Tuesday evening in January, but here is my experience. 1) Picnic bench place not really an OpenTable restaurant. There are fake grass under the tables. No cutlery or utensils to see and the few sauces were on a car next to the cleaning tabs. Yes I know his Tacos people, but it's Miami beach too, so I better expect. 2) Tacos are about $3.75 5. Carnita was good, but had pork cattle (big concept), which made it hard to eat overfilled and textures did not match. The Pollen de Carbon was pulled chicken without taste, a bit watery, so the bowls got soggy fast. A beer can was $8. My chips were stale and the salsa were served in small plastic containers. 3) I wanted to leave a cash tip and they had no correct change for a twenty.
It is a self-service place which wasn’t expected based on looking at it on Google Maps and their website. Tacos weren’t bad but they weren’t very good either. Their Tamarind Agua Fresca was excellent, though a bit on the sweet side(which I prefer). Their customer service was on point.
Decided to make a reservation for a family meal with 6 people. Didn’t realize what I was going to run into. It’s basically a Food street experience order your own food from a menu, pay at the cash register and expect to sit on a picnic table on a side walk to eat. There is no service at all. Your food arrives in baskets in random order so some people in a group are eating while others are staring at their faces. Regarding the food itself, I have had better tacos in Norway than this joint in Miami. Skip and go elsewhere.
