The young staff gave us a very warm welcome and provided excellent service. Our spacious and comfortable room (6) was perfect for us and we enjoyed a delicious dinner, particularly the steak pie and the veggie toad in the hole. Unfortunately, a power outage caused by the floods meant we couldn't try the breakfast. We plan to make a stop here for lunch in the future when we are traveling along the A14.
My husband, his sister, brother-in-law, and I dined at this restaurant for two nights as part of a gift experience. Despite some negative reviews, we were pleasantly surprised. The pub is located in a quiet village with a large green and resident geese. It offers a spacious car park, free wifi, and plenty of outdoor seating. Our package included a three-course dinner from the main menu on the first night, which exceeded our expectations in terms of portion size and taste. On the second night, I ordered the lamb madras with rice and naan bread, which was homemade and delicious. The others chose the cottage pie from the specials menu, which was tasty but the portion size was smaller in comparison.
We had visited this restaurant before and decided to give it another chance. We noticed that the menu was limited and the prices were higher than normal, possibly due to current circumstances. Our table was reserved, but there were only three other tables occupied. After choosing our seats, we ordered drinks and waited for twenty minutes before realizing no one had taken our food order yet. Customers who arrived after us were served before us. Eventually, one of us had to ask for service, and it was provided apologetically. Despite the delay, the food was hot and delicious once it arrived. We were informed that there were only two staff members serving, but the landlady had stepped in to help. Overall, the experience was disappointing due to the poor service, especially since we had pre-booked our table in advance.
Had to wait for room to be finished but once in it was very nice and spacious, coffef facilities, bottled water, lovely clean bedding, lovely little outdoor area by door and further outdoor space available. Lovely evening meal and breakfast was plentiful with variety. Staff...were very accomendating, especially the young girl and lad working when I arrived. Just two small gripes for me, the TV in room was very little, and there was hair on the sink plug, although Bath was clean. That said I would Definately return
Visited as a party of for a meal, food was very good and the portion sizes were great! Our food was brought to us by a very polite and professional young lad that we instantly recognised from another local pub. Fantastic service all round,...will definitely be back
