I had high expectations for this pub based on good reviews, but was disappointed upon arrival. Both my starter and main course were unavailable, so I had to choose something else. When the food finally arrived after a 35-minute wait, I was shocked by the poor quality. The shrimp was undercooked and dripping with water, the pie was drowned in watery gravy, and the mashed potatoes were extremely dry, tasting like instant mash with a chemical flavor. I received a full refund for both dishes, but the troubles continued after leaving the pub. My companions and I all felt sick shortly after eating, with me spending an hour vomiting when I got home. It has been two hours and I still feel unwell. This was the worst meal I've had in a long time, and it cost £62.

A family group of 8 went on the Santa Special on the Bluebell Railway. We had a great trip and afterwards looked for somewhere to have lunch and chill. We came upon the Railway Tavern and were made welcome by Hannah who was happy to prepare a space for our group. The service was excellent as were the drinks and food. Hannah and her colleagues ensured all our needs were met. The icing on the cake was that the condiment container had my grandfather's name on it. I told Hannah about this and she was able to find one for me to take home. All in all a wonderful gesture to end an enjoyable afternoon. If I am in East Grinstead again I will be sure to pay a visit to the Railway Tarvern.

Went for a day out on The Bluebell Railway, went for a walk into East Grinstead and fancied the look of this place. Lovely huge outdoor area in the front, very clean with covered booth which always great as thee were showers! The menu looked a little short but tasty….we were not disappointed! We had burger and chips, scampi and chips and a side order of Whitebait, the chips are the lightest tastiest chips I have ever tasted and the fish and burger were equally tasty! The staff are so nice and friendly, especially a young lady who brought us out some crayons for our little girl, she actually managed to get a few words and a smile out of our daughter who never speaks to strangers ever! The pub is lovely and clean and and so is the outdoor area. We will be back!

Wonderful food had a wonderful veggy burger and salad friendly staff friendly helpful lovely place and my friend really enjoyed his scampi.

Had a very unpleasant time at the Railway. As soon as we sat down the waitress (who I believe was called Lauren) was very rude and blunt towards us, I even heard her swearing and making other foul remarks in regards to our table. Unacceptable hospitality! Won’t be returning.
