Carvel - Middletown

The menu offers a good variety of options, but the owner could really benefit from a course in customer service. Some of her staff mirror her indifferent attitude, which isn't surprising given what they observe from their boss. It's baffling to see someone roll their eyes at customers just coming in to pick up a special order ice cream cake. That's exactly what happens at this Carvel location. After that, one of the employees hurriedly pushes you out the door as if you were an inconvenience. I witnessed a similar situation with another customer during my visit.

I have such cherished memories of visiting Carvel during my childhood in New York, and when I saw the big sign outside, I couldn't resist stopping by. There was just one thing to consider: I'm vegan, so I usually hesitate to visit places that don't have vegan options. Luckily, they had a few choices for me. I decided to try the raspberry sorbet, which I had in a cup with two scoops, and it was absolutely delightful. I do wish they offered a dairy-free vanilla soft serve like the one I loved as a kid, but since that wasn't available, the sorbet was a great alternative. I really hope they introduce a dairy-free soft serve option soon!

The ice cream is absolutely delightful, and the staff is both friendly and helpful. I give it a full five stars!

This restaurant exceeded our expectations with the birthday cake we ordered. They were able to create a beautiful image on the cake, and it tasted amazing. It was exactly what we had hoped for. Thank you!

Carvel is a popular spot for soft serve ice cream. However, our experience was somewhat disappointing. The young lady who served us was quite curt and rushed; while I understand that people want to be served quickly, customer service should still matter. The medium sundae container was not filled properly, which made it feel like we weren't getting our money's worth. Overall, it wasn't the worst experience, but I anticipated better service from a well-known chain.
