Four of us went to Ida’s for dinner last evening. Our waitress Lindsay apparently just graduated from The Rhode Island School of Hospitality and could not have been more curt, rude, literally sarcastic, nor totally disinterested. Food the same, VIBE entirely different. Dan Puerini owned it, but retired in May. The Puerini Family flair retired with him. Ida’s has disintegrated from a warm welcoming cozy atmosphere to a strip mall cafeteria vibe. I was actually reminded of a Disney self-serve restaurant where all the waitresses stand around just waiting to shuffle you out, clear off your table and make way for the next nondescript human in their day. The end of an era for sure.
I had an exceptional meal at this restaurant. The service was top-notch, the best I have experienced in a while. I dined in for dinner and the price per person was between $20 and $30. The food was excellent and I would rate it a 5. The service was also a 5, while the atmosphere was a 4. There was plenty of parking available as well.
A delicious Italian in Newport/Middletown. The food is very, very tasty, whether chicken or noodles. In typical American fashion, you sit in a larger room that isn't really divided. Nevertheless, it is very pleasant. A reservation may be necessary. The staff is super friendly and the prices are relatively good. Note for German travelers who are not used to it: As with many restaurants in the region, the tap water or ice cubes contain some chlorine. This is not for everyone! If necessary, cancel your order for ice cubes or order bottled water, which, in contrast, is subject to a charge.
Service, atmosphere, and overall experience all receive top ratings at this restaurant.
