My husband and I have been in service for 30+ years. I say this in case anyone thinks we don 't know what the heck we are talking about. Just got back into the country, and we were hanging for a Mission dog!! Headed out to the beach in Middletown. We were the only (visible customers at Mission. Young blonde at the till...on her phone. She was not the happy, friendly, outgoing human, like the girls in the summer. No. Got the vibe that we were OLD, so why bother being friendly or have a conversation with us? Whatever. Ordered 2 dogs with 3 identical ingredients and 2 drinks. Paid and left a good tip. She didn 't look or or act stoned, but she completely forgot the drinks, and one of the ingredients was missing on both hotdogs. Got ta be what she entered into the computer, right? It definitely could have been the guys in the kitchen, but...we doubted it. Especially after the little attitude. We had to get up to ask for and then retrieve the drinks (she was still on the phone , after the dogs got delivered to the table. No biggie, but really? This Mission was still going south. There was a station for water at the main counter. The napkins were on another counter, halfway across the room (none with the food . Ok, looking around, couldn 't see them. When we asked (nicely!! , the implication when she told us and pointed was, Duhh!! Just enough sass to make the blood start to boil. Really? Do we deserve this? Now, really, this isn 't rocket science. The customers are going to want exactly what they ordered (and paid for . Especially when 2 dogs and 2 cans of seltzer are approximately $17.00. The order was not huge or complicated. And there was no one else in the shop!! The customers are also going to need/want a napkin. Why not put one in with the food and point out the location of more in case they are necessary? Or put some at the front counter? Or just pretend to be helpful? If the customers tip you, they are actually saying, Thanks for doing your job, we are happy you showed up! The very least you could do is get off your high horse, your telephone and your arse and do the job you are being paid for. The dogs are great. The service sucks. The prices are huge. Welcome to 2021. Shop local? So we can be treated like a bad smell and pay $17.00 for 2 hotdogs, 2 cans and a bad case of entitlement? I think not. Give me Bishop 's any day.
I would have given a 5 star rating but the only reason I did not was our burgers were a tad too rare. We will try again but next time I will request medium well . No one asked so I assumed that 's how they would be cooked. The rareness surprised myself and my husband. But the reason for the 4 stars: delicious! Great flavor, loved the Mission sauce and the greens! The bun is light and whoa the fries....can we talk?! The fries are yummy like fries should be! Sorry, no photos! We ate it all! Lol
Hands down one of the best organic style burger and fries you'll ever have! If you want the full combo, order the Resin IPA to go along. The mission burger with bacon and cheddar adding jalapeños is my way. The burger meat comes from an organic farm in Maine because they won't serve burger meat that has been frozen and RI has a weird law that all RI burger meat producers have to freeze their hamburger after processing. (It's RI after all and someone's cousin probably owns the local freezer). You won't come here for the ambiance, since they closed their Newport location during Covid. The Middletown location is in a building behind first beach, so easy to find, picnic tables inside and outside for dining, but you are there for the food not location. A good option is to call ahead, then eat at second beach. The food is so fresh you'll want to eat is as hot as possible, so if you are doing take away, plan to eat as quickly as possible. DO NOT visit newport without stopping by Mission Burger if you are a burger connoisseur!!
Really delicious burgers that are packed with fresh ingredients, flavorful sauce, and juicy (not greasy)! The fries are also fresh, thick, and crispy. Facilities are clean, customer service efficient and cordial, atmosphere was inviting/casual. It is a pricier burger that does not come with fries. And the fries themselves are $4 dollars. However, it's totally worth it. Give this place a shot!
