The first time I went I swore I would not go again as being a foodie I was very disappointed! I couldn't understand how a restaurant could over cook pasta so much! I complained to the waiter and the chef was very gracious and came out to apologies so maybe it was his assistant the got it so wrong! After having been 4 times funnily enough every time I go the food gets a little better but it's defiantly not my top 10 or 20! The restaurant itself is very well decorated and always full so of your looking for ambiance and your not too fussy about food then you will love this place!
The place was almost empty on a Thursday night and I believe that the roadwork on Masaryk may have something to do with it (it is a mess, and we are in October now . The menu has many french dishes, but I am not sure how 'french ' these actually are after dining here for the first time. The housewines are from Mexico; white chardonney, not exciting, but a red blend with cabernet, montepulciano and Nebiolla really really great! I had the tuna tostadas as a starter. Nice tuna, but the avodado it should come with, was nowhere to be found. Maybe there was a tiny smear on the tostada....but that is not a 'tuna and avocado ' tostada. The advocado was replaced(? with cucumber in the dish. All in all a nice fresh dish with lime, ginger and a little chilli bite, but it missed the 'gooye ness ' avocado brings. For a main I had (the raw beef tartare. Here French cuisine was definately outside the window! The tartare was seasoned with chilli, tamarind and things (white small particles that looked like sesame seed, but were not that I would not put in a french tartare. I could not taste the beef, but my mouth was burning a bit. OK, I have to admit that I am not used to chili in food. But in short, for me it is a shame to kill the delicate raw beef taste with chilli! The garnish, rucola, had a fishy taste. Really weird. Either someone touched it with hands that handled fish, or the spices in the meat gave the rucola a funny taste. I actually believe the last is true. Then last but not least, the background music. I heard Taylor Dane, fleetwood mack, the whole 80th series etc. and all pretty loud. Nothing close to French and 'ambience '. Maybe i misunderstood the concept and CB is a Mexican eighties place instead?
Was recommended to to this restaurant by a friend whom I was in Mexico City to visit. The decor is exquisite and the bar inviting with some interesting food arrangements on display. It was a mild evening when we went for dinner so we opted to sit outside in their garden terraza. The wine list was more than adequate with many great French selections and the staff very attentive. Every dish from appetizers to dessert was wonderfully prepared and presented. We focused on their seafood including the fresh fish. To cap off a wonderful evening, we had after dinner drinks in front of the gas fireplace. Would highly recommend this restaurant
The place is very nice and the service excellent. The problem is that as a fancy restaurant, the menu doesn't have many options, so if you don't love french cuisine, you will suffer a little bit.
We have been to the Central Central in Santa Fe which is very nice but a bit far if you don't live or work in Santa Fe. Recently tried the Central Brasserie located in Polanco. Just as nice but without the terrace, but warmer in terms of ambiance and very cozy, a bit darker though. more of a brasserie feeling tan the one in Santa Fe. The food, just as good! And with a tiny patio at the back. Very nice!
