Cafe Rio Mexican Grill - Millcreek

Hard to imagine having a worse takeout experience: 1. Ordered via the app at 6pm for pickup at 7. 2. Arrived at 7. At 7:10 I’m told it will just be 5 more minutes because they ran out of grilled chicken. Don’t get my food until 7:25. 3. When my order is finally called it’s missing 2/6 items. 4. After getting the missing items and rushing home to try to salvage being able to have a late dinner with my kids before they go to bed, I’m disappointed to find that, as a cherry on top of my disastrous experience, the cook of my burrito decided that my “enchilada style” wasn’t deserving of cheese…just sauce. Cafe Rio’s decline in quality over the last decade is a heartbreak shared by all Utahns, but this experience really takes the cake…

I feel like this cafe Rio location has really improved!! I got the new pork bowl and it was soooo good. I added a few of the complimentary salsas and the flavor was so good. Juana checked that we had the correct order before we walked out with our order and she was so helpful! I always feel like the black beans aren’t as fresh as they could be but overall the food was great. Definitely an improvement on my previous experiences.

Delicious Mexican food, with good service, due to the time we went to eat there were few people, but it is not expensive....

The worst Cafe Rio I have ever been to. I went there on a Sunday evening. Nobody there spoke English. I paid cash for my order and the lady and the register did not know how to count American money and short changed me. I kept trying to explain I was not given the correct amount of money back. No one in the store could speak English and understand me. I was frustrated. I just took the loss and refuse to ever eat at this location again. Very poor management to have no one who speaks English on the premises. The black beans were extremely watery and the young man serving us at the start of the line would take his hat off and itch the top of his head with the brim of the hat right over the food beneath him. Avoid eating here! The only positive thing I can say it that it was not crowded and parking was easy.

Great food but stop using plastic cups for the salad dressing. They could easily use paper instead, that would prevent hundreds of small plastic cups from ending up in landfills.
