I've always wanted to eat here, but hadn't had the chance or had been there early enough for dinner, but I made it a plan before I left the city that day to eat there. Since I had never been, the staff asked their thoughts and decided on the pork plate with Stew Beans how that is what was recommended. The beans were AWESOME and the part for everything was right because they said that I could have a few the next day and would take a few home the next day. My stew was different from what I am used to, but was tasty and I enjoyed the part as everything was right. I had seen that there was Banana pudding and I couldn't go there without getting anything, so I got something, ate that day and had the rest for lunch the next day. In fact, I saved the bungalow for a sandwich the next day with the part of the meat I had left. All in all, it was a big visit as I was greeted with a smile and had a big conversation. While I was the only customer that day, I could sit and enjoy the food I had. The only criticism I have is that the sweet tea was not very sweet, but I just added sweeteners and I was fine. I enjoyed my first visit and I'm sure I'll be back in town next time.
BBQ pork is upper notch. I'll get a couple pounds when I'm in town. No tapes. Brunswick Stew wait until you loosen all your teeth and it could be good to drink. Mac and cheese are expensive.
A Central Georgia Institution. An old Clinton BBQ sandwich stands solely as a unique distinctive taste. I know Im in Central Georgia when I'm in Old Clinton BBQ. It is not Texas, Kansas or Memphis style, its old Clinton BBQ, a taste all its own. Can't compare with other BBQs. His sauce, the meat, I love the BBQ sandwich with float on the white bread ****. The vinegar red pepper sauce mixes with the pork for this distinctive taste. What a performance to be a local, independent, successful restaurant for generations. Thank God they survived the COVID pandemic if so many local businesses are not! I have enjoyed Old Clinton BBQ for 40 consistently great years.
If I could give zero stars I would. Definitely not the best bbq in Georgia, most likely the worst. Roasted chicken had no seasoning and tasted like propane. Ribs had no seasoning and were bland. The bbq sauce, fried squash, Brunswick stew were disgusting. The best thing I ate there was the pecan pie and even it was mediocre.
