We ordered take-out from Benten’s when dining in wasn’t an option. We had the chance to pick it up, which allowed us to glimpse the restaurant’s interior. This place really embodies an authentic sushi experience. The decor is warm and inviting, and the staff is incredibly friendly. We brought the sushi home to share with friends, and everyone was not only impressed by how tasty it was but also by how beautifully presented it all looked! We’re definitely planning to dine in at the restaurant now that we can. If you’re looking for fresh, delicious sushi in a genuine atmosphere, Benten’s is the spot for you!
This is the best sushi place if you're looking for quality and generous portions. Service: Dine-in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30
I’m really heartbroken to learn that Benten has closed its doors. My dad brought me there for my first sushi experience when I was just 4 years old, and I have probably visited around a hundred times over the past 25 years. I wish I had known they were closing so that I could have expressed my gratitude for being such an important part of my life for so long. I hope the team sees this review.
The owner embodies the spirit of a traditional Japanese matriarch, managing the restaurant with great attention to detail. The staff is not only friendly but also knowledgeable about the menu, and you can rely on the more experienced team members to recommend the best sake to complement your meal. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes to cater to Long Island tastes, which is somewhat unusual compared to Japan. In keeping with local preferences, Chef Ken has incorporated some regional flavors into the offerings. While you might encounter sushi rolls like the "Long Island Roll" or "Cathy Roll," don't let them deter you. Focus instead on the authentic dishes that you can only find in Japan—you certainly won't be disappointed. My Japanese friends in the area, as well as visitors from Tokyo, are regulars here when they come to town. Need I say more?
