I had an idea of what I wanted to order from the menu I read outside but asked the young man at the register to suggest something and there was a daily special of stuffed veggies or something. I don't really know what it was but it was a really good dining experience. They also gave me a sample of Singaporean curry that was super tasty and different from any curry I was familiar with (Thai, Indian, etc. I look forward to returning!
Shiok lah! The owners of this store are so warm and sweet this is probably the last standing area in the south bay where you can get authentic style Singaporean food, now that Nanyang Cafe is gone... Definitely try the Kaya Toast Teh Laksa Mee Goreng!
I thought I'd never be able to find fried fish bee hoon in East Bay! Not exactly the same as what you'd find in hawkers in Singapore, but still tasty. I also bought curry puffs to go delicious! Glad to have found a piece of home here. Will definitely be back.
Love the milk tea very much. The dried fishes with the sauce for rice are delicious too.
The laksa here is amazing! This is coming from someone who's favorite food in Singapore was laksa. I've never had laksa this good before outside Singapore. I got the chicken laksa, and although the bowl wasn't very big, there are a lot of noodles. The noodles are really chewy, and the soup is really flavorful. It's really good! The chicken is shredded chicken, so I just ate it while drinking the soup and eating the noodles. There's also fish cake, bean sprouts, and fried tofu. Yum. I was pretty thirsty a while after the meal though, so I'm thinking they might've used MSG? I got a meal with my laksa, which meant choosing a soda or a milk tea. I asked for no sugar in the teh tarik, but the cashier said it's premade. I asked whether it's really sweet, and she offered a sample. That was really nice of her! It wasn't too sweet, so I ordered it. The tea could be stronger I think, but it was pretty good already. I also tried the dipping sauce of my friend's roti, and it was nice and flavorful too. I really like this place! It's reasonably priced plus just a dollar more for a drink if you want a meal. Good deal, would come back and definitely recommend.
