After inquiring about vegan options, I was informed that all vegetarian dishes were suitable except for one. When I specified that I wanted my dish made without fish sauce, oyster sauce, or shrimp paste, the waitress initially seemed confused. However, a colleague reassured me that these ingredients were not used in my dish. The presentation of the dish was nice and it tasted good, although omitting some traditional components made it slightly less flavorful than other Thai dishes I've had. Despite this, I appreciated that it was free of animal ingredients and fresh. It would be great to see more Thai restaurants explore vegan options, taking inspiration from sources like the vegan Thai cookbook by May Kaidee.
This Thai restaurant is beautiful, with a focus on meat dishes but also offering a small vegetarian section on the menu. I inquired about vegan options and received a quick response via email, confirming that all vegetarian dishes on the menu were suitable for vegans except for dish no. 93 (thod man khao pod). When I placed my order at the restaurant, I made sure to mention that I wanted a vegetarian dish without fish sauce, oyster sauce, or shrimp paste. The waitress seemed confused at first but after consulting with a colleague, I was assured that my order did not contain any of those ingredients. The dish I ordered was nicely presented and tasted good, although it lacked some flavor compared to dishes I've had at vegan restaurants in Bangkok. Nevertheless, it was fresh and free of animal products. I would have liked to see more creativity in the spicing, perhaps drawing inspiration from May Kaidee's vegan Thai cookbook.
This Thai restaurant has a nice atmosphere and a variety of meat-heavy dishes, with a small vegetarian selection on the menu. I noticed there was no vegan labeling, so I reached out to inquire about vegan options. I received a prompt response via email indicating that all vegetarian dishes on the menu were suitable for vegans, except for dish no. 93 (Thod Man Khao Pod). When I placed my order at the restaurant, I made sure to request a vegetarian dish without fish sauce, oyster sauce, or shrimp paste in the ingredients, as my past experiences at Thai restaurants have taught me to do so. The waitress initially seemed confused, mentioning that omitting these ingredients would affect the taste of the food. After consulting a colleague, it was confirmed that my dish would not include those ingredients. Although my dish was well-presented and tasty, it lacked the depth of flavor I've experienced in vegan restaurants in Bangkok. However, I appreciated that there were no animal ingredients present and that the food was fresh. I hope that Thai chefs will explore alternatives like those found in May Kaidee's vegan Thai cookbook to incorporate more creative and flavorful vegan dishes on their menus.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at this restaurant tonight. The interior was beautiful and the atmosphere was inviting, with a friendly and welcoming staff. We were greeted personally by everyone and thanked at the end of our meal. The food was exceptional and we highly recommend this place, especially for those looking for vegetarian and vegan options.
