I discovered the Railway town of Wolverton a couple of years ago and i did not like it as it was run down. However I do not judge things just on a fleeting visit. Over time the area has improved with lots of small business owners deciding to put the effort in and take the risk to build a business. This is the case with the New Queen Victoria. This pub was unloved and not very busy when I first had a beer there. However a close and dedicated family from South Africa have been brave enough to invest in the pub and its has improved dramatically. Of late the place has started to sparkle and there is a sign on the wall stating that This pub is the only good think to good out of Lock Down Not a boast but a fact and something to be proud of. The decor has improved greatly. There is free music from the 70 's and 80 's for people to enjoy, a pool table that is well used, large tv screens and some local characters. All of these things require effort and they do not happen over night ! With the arrival of an excellent young gentleman barman named Brad; I think its going to get better, This young man is on the ball. He is excellent at his work. Attentive, hardworking , polite and patient its is a pleasure to be served an excellent pint of Ginness at a good price . I think he is going to go far. I hope that people will respect the pub and it 's staff and treat it as it should be. It 's a place to enjoy and that 's what life is all about. Louts and those who swear or are aggressive should not spoil things for the loyal customers and the owners. Well done to all and keep up the good work Brad !
This pub is located directly across from the former Agora shopping center. It is situated next to the African restaurant, Braai Shack, and is popular among locals. The staff are friendly, but the pub's decor and atmosphere are lacking. Despite its small size compared to other establishments, it makes up for it with excellent service.
