I am now 58, have worked and lived all over the world and happened to be back in wolverton to deal with the passing of a relative so went in for a burger. The experience took me back to the 80,s when this was the after pub place to go to and the food is still as good. Well worth a visit
We visit this little cafe regularly it’s a great old school cafe the food is always good and the staff are always really friendly also the kitchen is open plan so you can see everything going on in there and how clean it is there’s plenty parking right outside or in the carpark over the road
This is a truncated version of what I wrote in a text to my family after we ate breakfast at Burger Bar the other day: “Also do you all use the Burger bar? I’d really recommend it! I always forget how much I like it when I go it always seems spotlessly clean and is super reasonable (my sister confirmed that it also has a 5 star hygiene rating). The menu is almost the same since it opened and the guy Mustafa who runs it has been running it since 1977. I went there this morning for coffee and we ended up having an omelette and chips for breakfast £3.50 or £5.50 with cheese and it was a good portion, lovely freshly cooked chips and a delicious omelette we’ve talked about it a few times since. I don’t know why we don’t go there more it’s an institution. The waitress Emma is lovely and it’s a genuinely brilliant cafe for old classics. I think it’s the sort of place that would be gentrified out of here when the Agora is redeveloped and then someone would come along and open something exactly the same as a “themed” restaurant that’s not legit and three times the price. They don’t do veggie sausages or bacon or whatever but they do have veggie burgers and lots of puddings and bits and pieces. I love it there and will be going more regularly.
Visit this place quite often. Food no nonsense, decent portions and never had any complaints regarding the quality. They do old school puddings i.e brown derby, knickerbocker glory, also lovely frothy milkshakes. The waitress is very friendly, never have to wait long even when busy.
Been here many a time over the last few years, but never thought to review it. Great place for breakfast and lunch, good choice, you can mix and match just about anything and they will cook it. Friendly staff, you can read the paper. Very reasonable prices
