The food was not good-my plate had a huge piece of fatty meat that I put off to the side and that the server could clearly see it was terrible. Nothing was mentioned about if there was a problem with my meal. I did not make an issue of it-but will never return and will tell everyone headed to Milwaukee to visit the other fine German restaurants.
I enjoyed the porch and the calfscarf. service was good. the food lasted longer than expected to come to the table, but it was hot when it arrived.
Big German food and ambiente. the prices are not as steep as some claim. directly in the inner city of milwaukee.
Maders is probably the grandfather of German restaurants in milwaukee. elegant and authentic. eating is reliable good, but strictly German. excellent bier and wine choices. waitstaff wears the authentic garn (dirndls). it's expensive. if they are looking for good German food with an elegant European atmosphere, this is a good choice. there are also other German foods that offer a good authentic German tariff without the high price. Mader’s is a great choice for a special occasion.
In milwaukee there is a gaggle of German old restaurants. last trip I went into the cone that was excellent in every sight. this trip is Mader’s, I daresay milwaukeee oldest, from 1902. very traditional menu with small updates to woo the millenniums, you would suspect. I started with the sprout and whiteworst appetizer. this sausage is a traditional Bavarian sausage made of jagged calf and turtle speck. it is in the rule with petersilie, lemon, mace, wobbles, ingwer and kardamom, but there are regional variations. in any case it was perfect for me, tasteful, beautiful case, beautiful loop, good texture.
