I don't think it is the best option anymore. The prices have bloated and the whole menu seems overpriced considering the quality of the food. Still seems to be a family-run business, but is becoming more of a tourist trap these days it seems, at least during winter break.
Charged $560 for a chevito that was not more than average. Was recommended as the house special. Seriously? There is much better food within a block at half the price.
Mina Clavero has no shortage of very good restaurants. We ate at 3 of them and they were all very good, with different strengths. We like to eat early and we went to this restaurant because it seemed to be the first to open. They had a daily special ‘baby goat’ (actually I think we got lamb) but it was excellent. The dining area was not as tidy as it could have been and did not have much ambience even though they had a lovely fire burning. Our waiters were especially friendly and in spite of our almost total inability to communicate (English/Spanish) they seemed to go along with us and we all had a good chuckle. Their side of papa frites were flavoured with something and were excellent.
Location is big, so prices are 20 above average, that is bad, but the main problem is that the area's specialty is bbq goats, so we ordered, after checking with the waitress that the food was good and...plentiful, (we could always order something else) so that with their blessing we have ordered the most expensive plating of bones and fat, absolutely terrible, so that we always send it back
