Anyhow ... decided to have dinner here tonight. It was good - fast service, hot fries, hot burger, yummy pickle and ice cold pop. The staff didn't seem overly happy and the manager looked absolutely miserable. Upon entering the restaurant tonight, a ticked off customer was complaining really loudly and I almost turned around and walked out. The women's bathroom is really boring/dull and looks like it could use a good cleaning! Apparently it was newly renovated awhile back - looks like it could use another renovation! Think I will stick with Hero Certified Burgers restaurant next time I'm craving a burger meal. Main reason I went to Harvey's tonight was due to having a really good coupon.
We like this location especially for its breakfast. It is very convenient and the service is great. The location although on the older side is still pretty good.
Where to start? The cashier was great but everything else was crappy - one person at condiments counter & she's too slow. You really need 2 people at this counter during dinnertime. Waited for 7 minutes for the combo and fries were cold, cook seemed ticked off at having to make new hot fries. He had scooped fries from a side area - who knows how long they had been sitting there for! In the meantime, burger had gone cold but there was now a big lineup at the cashier so I just ate the burger - my mistake! :( Took a bite of the pickle & it was so horrible, I spit it out. Tasted really bad/off so tried a 2nd pickle - the same problem. Yuk! :( This is the second major complaint I've had against this location this year and not much has changed. The Harvey's location at Mavis/Burnhamthorpe is excellent - hot fries & burger in less than 3 minutes always! Not as close to where I live though.
I've been eating at Harvey's for a long time, since the sixties when it first appeared in Waterloo. The modern version is still among the best of the chains but I do miss the guys working at the grill in front of me. We stopped by this Harvey's on Monday and were quite satisfied with our meals. Harvey's is not gourmet but it is still dependable.
Have been eating at this location for decades but have seen a steady decline of quality of food over the last couple of years. Staff always look like they don't want to be there. Ordered dinner for 4 on Sunday night as a last minute decision. The Angus burgers unlike the ads are small and do not hang over the sides of the buns. More like kids burgers from McD. Onion rings were not fully cooked and definitely not crisp. Worst the four pops we ordered were FLAT and tasted like sugar water. Since it was take-out we didn't return the food. Won't be going back there again. There are better choices for a burger in the city (McD, Burger King, Heroes) all within minutes of this location. Also for dine in the decor is dismal.
