The pho is delicious, but the service isn't great, and the interior is pretty outdated. But if you're looking for something cheap, tasty, and quick, this is the place.
Quick service, good food and unlimited parking. Works for me! I had the satay pho, based on recommendations from users here and found it tasty and big enough for a meal. This is not a franchise, it is an independent operation and deserves praise for its good work.
Popped in on a wet, cold dreary Saturday afternoon with the family In between running errands. We were craving a hot, bowl of soup to warm our bellies. Pho is soup that contains a clear broth and heaps of slippery rice noodles along with paper thin sliced meat and other randoms ranging from tripe to beef tendons to a variety of other ingredients depending on how adventurous your taste buds are. Meadowvale Town Centre is no longer a tired old mall as much as it is a strip plaza with a collection of various fast food style eateries and restaurants catering to customers on the run or on a budget. I would guess that with the plaza's close proximity to Meadowvale Secondary School, most of the patrons during the week are students during the lunch period. This particular Pho restaurant is similar to most Vietnamese restaurants in that it specializes in its namesake and serves big, cheap, steaming bowls of the countries national dish among other things. In spite of the deceiving appearance from the outside, the restaurants size is large and spacious once you walk in. It operates like most Pho places - you walk in, the Vietnamese staff will direct you to an area to sit, you choose your own table, you check out the menu and write your order on the paper provided using the numbers provided beside the dish description in the menu, the waiter drops off cups of tea and water to the table and you give him the paper with your order, the soup then magically appears less than 2 minutes later, you eat and then get up and pay your tab at the counter. 20 minutes at most from start to finish. Spoons, chop sticks, cutlery and condiments (siracha/hoisin/,chilli oil/ vinegar) are all ready to go on your table. If you ordered Pho, waiter will bring you a plate before hand piled high with bean sprouts, wedges of lime and sprigs of fresh basil to garnish your soup with once it arrives at the table. Service is fast and interaction or communication with wait staff is minimal. Get in, get out. Food is good and typical of literally most Pho places. Restaurant is clean. Broth is delicious. Portions are sizeable. My family got two medium size bowls of pho, an order of vermicelli to split between my two kids (ages 3 & 5), an order of fresh spring rolls to start and a side order of deep fried salted squid. Total price was just over $40. The customers were an eclectic mix of different ethnicities and the place was quite busy considering we got there at exactly 12 noon. There were a number of Vietnamese patrons eating which is usually a good indicator of a Vietnamese restaurants authenticity. Definitely a better alternative than hitting Pizza Pizza or McD's or Timmies for a meal that is just as fast and way more filling.
It is always a gamble when you walk into a Pho restaurant without a recommendation from someone. When I waled into Pho Mi 89 the place was near full and the smell was great...good pick. Everything I have had here has met or exceeded expectations. I return often and I am never disappointed.
