Symposium Cafe Restaurant & Lounge

I've been to this one before, hit and miss. This time I went in for a quick brunch on my way to the gym. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. Ashleigh was nice enough to offer me coffee and freshly squeezed oj when I sat down so I took one of each. French toast and bacon were very good and came with a fruit salad. I asked for extra bananas and she chopped a very generous portion for me. She was busy but kept me in stitches the whole time as we were having a conversation on the go. I appreciated both her sense of humour and efficiency. The restaurant was clean and classy looking. I'll be back with a larger group next time.

We heard that Symposium has a Monday special of $5 burgers and sandwiches. For a restaurant with a decor like Symposium, it sounds too good to be true. And it is, sort of.The deal is $5 burgers/sandwiches with the purchase of a beverage, which is more than reasonable. The reality hits when you realize that you have to add $1.45 for cheese or bacon if you want those, and that if you want a side of fries with your burger, you need to be prepared to add another $5.25 to your bill - more than the burger itself!The burgers are decent, but not truly great. The burger patties are rubbery and 'bouncy', as one of our group aptly described them. Clearly frozen patties. Everything else about the burger was quite good, so it's disappointing that the main ingredient lets it down.Our server was pleasant and helpful, but the Sapporo draft was quite stale and tasted mouldy like an old damp rag. Obviously they need to clean the lines and tap a fresh keg.

Went here on a Saturday afternoon and just missed the afternoon lunch, which was great. Our server seemed pretty new but tried her best. Now the food, the food was pretty damn good but it was on the pricey side, IMO. My half-glass of orange juice was $4.25. I wish I knew the dimensions to tell you here; the glass was so tiny! I told the server for that price I expect a gold nugget at the bottom of the glass - lol!All in all I would sooner go to Eggsactly or another breakfast place to get my breakfast kick.

I have eaten breakfast here on two occasions and both were excellent. Good big portions with plenty of toast and coffee refills. The waitresses are very happy and friendly and all in all the atmosphere is nice and welcoming.
