Customer service was the most dry I've ever experienced at any restaurant in Houston. But I remain optimistic since the true testament will be in the flavor of the food....I tried the food. Not too bad but I would definitely say it is extremely over priced! I understand we're in inflation and all but for $20 for soul food, food usually found at cheaper prices, I felt a bit cheated to be honest. I bought the roast, mashed potatoes, chilli beans. and Mac and cheese. Roast was cooked very well. Everything else I could make at home out of a can. Valveeta over some pasta. Honestly my mashed potatoes tasted better. Chilli beans were forgettable. Better customer service would have gotten it a better rating.
The smothered pork chops, sweet corn, and green beans was so delicious the sweet kool aid was the bomb. I will definitely go back!!
1st time here, and the fried chicken was the best I've had in years! Mashed potatoes, yams, and fried cornbread didn't disappoint either! We will be back!
I came for dinner last night. The smothered chicken was amazing! The portion was huge. Green beans and mac n cheese were great.I came back this morning for brunch. The chicken and waffles was also good. Very big portion. The owner and staff are very personable. The jazz music playing in the background is at the perfect volume. You can carry on a conversation without shouting.Support local businesses.Give this place some love!
The food is nasty. I had the bake chicken, it was tuff and I had the cabbage, it was not seasoned. No flavor at all. I need to show them how to bake chicken, where it is tender and falling off the bone. Cabbage is the easiest vegetable to cook, instead of using water, use chicken broth. Yummy!
