Good food and ambiente. perhaps a little more expensive than expected for a pub on Sunday lunch.
Again very good. a little disappointed that the steaks were not on the menu. the volunteer mostly of the excellent steaks, but the rest of the menu is good and varied, so we had another good evening. excellent service they really try to let an evening go well and it is worth the ride.
I have always booked this venue for special occasions, as I feel that at my last two visit me this sense of speciality in food and customer care that I want to expect. on a Sunday dinner was not so suitable for a birthday party as it was more busy and slower (although we loved our waiter alone) and the menu was more limited it will know for the next time. also we have booked a 2.p.m slot and due to the slower service the background music had turned off on us when we still ate our desserts, who felt disappointing as if we would stop them from closing. it pampered the atmosphere something and meant that coffee to finish the meal were from the question. it was a real scandal. we were just left behind to pay the bill!
Have been to the Volunteer on an intermittent basis for many years and on a recent visit found it under new management. We had a very friendly and warm welcome from the delightful new people. There is a good range of beers and ales, the pub has a lovely ambiance, menu was modest though I didn't look at the wine list so can't comment. The meal we had was certainly pleasant enough and the whole package made for a really enjoyable evening. Great improvement from what it was before and look forward to going again. Would recommend.
