We had a small group (4) and took 3 rooms, all different, and rustic. In Mompox you don't have to worry about a quiet room as the city turns at 9 a.m., and there is rarely a car on the road after this hour. Unbelievable! Sure! Go back to the Jazz Festival!
We have read some positive reviews of this restaurant and were already in El Fuerte, so decided to go there. We went to the hotel in an afternoon and asked if the restaurant was open for dinner. The lady was very friendly, but explained... that they're buying to cook everything from scratch, so we have to order dinner early. We asked them when we had to order for dinner at 8:00 and said 6.30. I saw a bit confused, but whatever! We came back at 6.30 p.m. and instead of the lady there was an older gentleman who was very grumpy and short with us. He immediately said they wouldn't eat! We explained what the lady had said and he went away to ask someone with a very bad grace. Finally he told us that we should come at 6:00 (not what we were told). but if we order now, it would be ready by 8.15. He gave us some menus and told us: there is no fish. When we came back at 8.15, it was usually the same story. My friend asked what beers they had (there are 4 types on the menu and he retorted 'Club Colombia!' with us, as if it were the most obvious thing at all and we were stupid to ask. I asked what kinds of juices they had, and was obviously answered in the same way I should know exactly what juices they already have....! We found him very rude. On the plus side the food was quite delicious at the end, especially the huge side salads that are included. And in the end the man seemed to have a slight change of heart and came and asked us a few questions about ourselves. But to be honest, it was too late. The whole experience was stressful and we were made to feel completely undesirable. Would not recommend this problem. Just stay with El Fuerte!
This was a charming, peaceful and lovely hotel. We totally enjoyed our 2 day retreat here. The staff were so friendly!! and so helpful. The rooms are pretty, the pool is gorgeous and the roof top view is amazing. Plus there´s a spa there if...you feel like a spa with a view!!
We actually stayed at Casa Amarilla, but wish we had stayed here after the stopping in for lunch day we were so enchanted by the generous hospitality shown to us although we weren't staying there. After having lunch, there was no question that we were...going anywhere else for dinner. We had BEST food in Mompos (if you're looking not to eat street food for a change . An elderly couple built it, the wife trains locals to cook. The husband greeted us at dinner one night a lovely lovely elder gentle man. He ended up staying and talking with us at the table most of the night, at our insistence (he didn't want to intrude . If you're looking for wine (often a rarity in many places in Colombia, and I'm a wino go here. He has stocked his cellar with estate wines from Argentina and Chile, and we bought 2 bottles to take with us. We also had a LOT of problems with VanCity ATM cards and Visa at the ATMs throughout ALL of Colombia (Visa did work in stores/restaurants etc. . We were running low on cash, and we told him about our problems and he gave us cash against our VISA. A generous hospitable class act.
