The Pretzel was small, the prawn on the Surf and Turf was an inch in size and there was nobody around to ask me how my stake was. It was chewy, under cooked (I ordered medium rare), and a scanty drizzle of Bernaise sauce hardly satisfied my palate. Definitely in need of more staff.
Local pub with a relaxed beer garden. Well needed renovation due to start shortly - check before you go
To be fair it was a very, in fact extremely hot day and so my wife suggested the Mona Vale Hotel as a venue for a cold drink and a quick lunch. We had been here on previous occassions and had an enjoyable experience. To begin with the aircon wasn't working and the ceiling fans did little to stifle the heat. The place has either just been sold or new owners just taken over, as the decor and surrounds look in dire need of a refurb. The staff too could have been smarter and more customer service aware. In a time when good pub food is a drawcard for both groups and families as an alternative to smaller restaurants. The steak I ordered ( blue) was both tough and chewy but the vegetables were crisp and fresh and a delight. My wife's prawn pasta was as she put it delicious.
A few pool tables, plenty of places to sit, a sports bar and a great menu makes this a pub worth visiting!
As a work group we went on the two for one deal - the food was great - the service quick and efficient - the servings were generous and food fresh and hot. Desserts were huge and very good!!!!
