Shogun Hibachi Steakhouse - Monaca

I have been to hibachi restaurants before, but this was my first time at this particular one. The food and service were good. You have the option to sit at a table or at a hibachi grill, and we chose the hibachi. We both ordered combination platters - I had steak and scallops with noodles, while my husband had filet mignon with shrimp and fried rice. Each plate came with clear soup, salad, rice or noodles, and vegetables, so the portions seemed generous. The protein was tasty and well-cooked, but we found the quantities to be lacking. I only received four scallops and a small piece of steak, while my husband's plate had a small steak and 5-6 shrimp. Additionally, we couldn't tell the difference between the filet mignon and the regular steak - it seemed like they only offered one type. The bill came out to $70 for the two of us, including taxes, which we felt was not justified given the small portion sizes of the protein.

"The hibachi here is fantastic, and the portions are generous for the price. I also had a funny experience trying to catch broccoli, and witnessed a woman sneakily dumping chicken from a container in her purse onto her vegetable plate when she thought no one was watching. It was absolutely entertaining."

I found the food and service to be excellent, but I may not come back until they start offering sake. I always enjoy having sake with my sushi, tuna tartare, and sashimi salad.

Our server received our drink orders directly after we were seated, and kept them full the entire time we were there. She, along with the rest of the staff, were pleasant and at our service. Our hibachi chef (I was so entranced with his performance and thedeliciousness of his cooking that I failed to get his name) was funny and talented. The restaurant is clean, the food tasty, andservice exceptional. I look forward to dining with them again!

Would be 5 stars, but it cost me and my daughter $60 for dinner. Great service, great food, nice employees! Always love the food here. And the experience is great too! Maverick was our cook, and he's great!
