Contribuisci feedbackThe restaurant offers an extensive selection of wines. The crab pate amuse bouche was satisfactory. However, the bread basket was underwhelming. The table side tartar was good, while the scallop appetizer was mediocre. The table side Caesar salad was exceptional, possibly the best we have ever had. The cranberry granita served as a palate cleanser was overly sweet. The cod was very good, cooked well with spinach and asparagus that were slightly salty. The steak was excellent, possibly the best, with a fantastic crust and flavor. The garlic spinach side was very good. The banana flambe with toasted almonds prepared table side was a great ending to the meal. Our server Frederico provided exceptional table side service, making the night special and memorable. The ambiance was lovely, intimate, with interesting maritime artifacts and gas lamps, creating an old-school charm.
We hold the Windjammer as the benchmark to compare other restaurants and after a recent visit it remains the "gold standard'. While newer restaurants, many who have come and gone, introduce trendy gimmicks , the Windjammer sticks to its values. Excellent service. Relaxing, romantic and private dining environment. Classic menu choices with table-side service. Frederic's Caesar salad prepared table-side from scratch is simply the best we have had anywhere. The classic menu choices along with there premium steak options make for great mains. We had the bone in rib eye and blue dot tenderloin both which were excellent. And who can resist flambéed desert choices like cherries jubilee? Add in service touches such as amuse bouchée , hot face clothes are and house made chocolate treats and it is an experience that cannot be beat.
A charming old school atmosphere with an impressive new aquarium. The service is a 10/10 as would be expected in such an establishment. It's obvious all of the staff take pride in their work and they all contribute to a wonderful dining environment. In fact they went to great lengths to make my 11 year old daughter more at home and we really appreciated the special attention they gave us. The food was extraordinary. I have eaten at a lot of expensive steak houses but this place tops them all. No wonder they have one of the best ratings in Canada. Amazing!!!! The sides were perfect and I especially enjoyed the fiddle heads as I am not from NB and had never experienced those before. Another thing we really enjoyed was the food preparation beside our table. Depending on what you order, some of their meals are flambéed right before your very eyes. This was true of our steaks as well as the Cherries Jubilee. Everything was remarkable. We really enjoyed it. This restaurant is first class and like the old saying goes... you get what you pay for.
Gracious and friendly service, wonderful food and ambiance. I wish I could visit more often. Since my last visit they now offer oysters Rockefeller - the best version I have ever had! Instead of what I remember of the dish, having cheesy and sometimes chewy toppings, this one was a foamy topping, yet with deep flavours, and luscious oysters underneath.
We were celebrating our 40th anniversary. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional! We highly recommend this restaurant for a fine dining experience.
