It's in desperate need of TLC, to say the least, appearing to date back to a prior century. The gym could have been a nice touch but was equally dated with what looks like second hand equipment shipped in from the UK, a large portion of which was not fully operational or the type of equipment purchased for a home gym. That being said the build in squash court was a quirky and rather surprising positive, not found by me so far in any other small hotel in my years of travel. The main building had clearly seen some of the very necessary upgrades including the hotel restaurant which was generally rather good. The breakfast was much better fare than I might have expected from small town France with fresh pressed orange, bacon and eggs etc.Not much of the International language in evidence, but then it is france afterall.Would have scored a much more favourable recommendation if it wasnt for the old accomodation block. If I went back, it would only be under the condition that a refurbished room in the main block was available.
We have lived in the area for five years and this was our first visit to the restaurant for lunch. The restaurant is modern in appearance and for some people could be too bold. We were seated in the smaller seating area which was clean and comfortable warm. We had a plat jour (king prawn sweet and sour) and a assiette hyper protein meal which was chicken wings deglazed with lemon, omelette and salad. A glass of vire clesse (white wine) which were all well presented and tasty. The dessert was a crème caramel which was disappointing because the caramel topping was not complete. We will visit again probably for an evening meal to sample a different ambiance. This meal came to 48euro,s and was ok for the money paid.
Best in montceau so far .. quality and quantity worth the money we paid.. visit in regular basis..We have ordered salmon with rice and lasagna. both were very delicious.. made to order dishes always tasty...
The starter was a plate of cheap meats with leaf , microwaved cheese and fried new potatoes. Main course steak was overcooked and not seasoned and chips cooked in old oil......disappointing.
I have been invited to this place a few times in the past and this was the last time. The food is tasteless, greasy and overpriced. The service is even worse, you wait ages only to be served by rude waitresses.
