Alto Rooftop - Montclair

I wouldn't return to this restaurant. Our server seemed to mock us for wanting to pay in cash, which was quite surprising. My husband ended up having to go to the bar to settle the bill. On a positive note, the view is nice.

Adam was fantastic and made sure our drinks were always full! The view was stunning, and the margarita was fantastic. The food choices were quite limited; we ordered the margarita pizza and the cheese platter. Neither dish stood out—neither was terrible, but they didn't quite match the beautiful setting. However, we didn't come for the food, so I didn't deduct any stars for that.

Alex was great! The food was quite good and the drinks were delicious but very small....overall fantastic night out! Can't wait to return!

Leaving aside you're on a rooftop overlooking New Jersey and have beautiful skyline view of Manhattan, this might be one of the most unclean, poorly serviced places in Montclair. Blame should not go on anyone but upper corporate management, which clearly has no problem having hundreds, literally hundreds, of lantern flies, collect in the rotunda. While likely paying employees a decent wage, hiring young employees such that they have no sense of hospitality is unacceptable. That being the case, our server was fantastic, but clearly she was the exception. The bartender (actually the assistant manager with little to no bartending experience) struggled but had little clue how to make drinks. When I raised the lantern fire situation, the response was a shrug of the shoulders, and a false sense of concern to do anything about it until “the next day.“ The people who own and operate this hotel should be ashamed as all they care about are margins to the exclusion of cleanliness, hospitality, and what could be an amazing experience in Montclair. What a shame.

I really enjoyed AC rooftop. The heating lamps were right on time. I would like to see more vegan options on the menu. Example vegan cheese for the pizza. Or an impossible burger.
