The house specialty is the tortas ahogadas but that day I decided to eat potato tacos. They are very good, large and well prepared. the horchata water is amazing. I recommend the place.
Best Tortas Ahogadas , Guadalajara style Mexico authentic we drove down from Sb to MONTEBELLO. 98 miles to get there. And were happily surprised. Also taco dorados great ...Also took some Tortas ahogadas home...will be going often. Can't beat the price either. Check it out!Parking: They have their own lot. Plenty of parking.
We decided to give this restaurant a try since our usual spot was closed and we were craving a torta ahogada. First off, the service was excellent. My wife, son, and I ordered the torta ahogada, while my daughter chose the tacos. Unfortunately, none of us enjoyed our meals. While it may appeal to some, it certainly didn't meet our expectations. The meat and broth lacked flavor, and the bread was far too hard and chewy for our liking. I recommend trying El Guero at Whittier and Ford instead. I can confidently say you won’t want to return to Chago after that experience, and we certainly won’t be back.
I only come to eat here when my parents insist, and I can't imagine any other way to get me to return. The food is mediocre; after just a few bites, you quickly lose interest and have to push yourself to finish. The interior is unkempt—there were even termites on the windows, and it felt quite dilapidated. They have a wall dedicated to celebrities, which you'd think would enhance the atmosphere, but it actually makes it worse. I strongly recommend avoiding this place altogether.
