El Palomar - Monterey

Read the mediocre reviews, but followed the advice of my friend to eat here, I'm glad we made it! eating is amazing and the atmosphere (and live music) is very, very beautiful. highly recommended!

Not too busy on a Saturday night here in monterey. good food. good drinks! free chips and salsa. What could they ask for?

As a Mexican chef, I feel that the quality and presentation of the food do not justify the high prices here. They didn't offer many salsas to accompany the dishes, which is disappointing. Even small taquerias provide better authentic flavors at more reasonable prices. Traditional Mexican food shouldn't be overpriced. Restaurants like El Torito and Chili's offer a better atmosphere and more competitive prices. On a positive note, the servers were excellent.

This restaurant is exceptionally clean, and the staff is incredibly friendly. We were seated right away, and they took great care of us throughout our visit. The only reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five is due to the food; while it was freshly prepared and had a very authentic taste, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend this place and will definitely return whenever I’m in Monterey, CA.
