It was decent, but nothing to rave about, and it took quite a while to arrive. For breakfast, I was fortunate that there wasn’t a long line on Sunday morning when I went for a Chai Latte and a donut. Together, they cost just over $6. They also offer pastries, bagels with cream cheese, granola and yogurt, and fresh fruit cups for breakfast. If you're looking for a more upscale, made-to-order breakfast, you'll need to head over to the TusCa Restaurant.
First, I struggled to reach a live person, but I persisted because our large group of ten wanted to dine here for Thanksgiving, provided there was live music. When I finally connected, I was transferred to the concierge, who informed me that they don't manage the music and suggested I contact Dr. Morwood instead. I asked a couple of questions, specifically if there would be live music in the Fireplace Lounge on Thanksgiving and if we could order from the special Thanksgiving menu at Tusca. After putting me on hold, she returned with disappointing news: we couldn't have the Thanksgiving menu unless we dined at Tusca, which was fully booked. However, she confirmed that the live music would indeed be in the Fireplace Lounge. As a result, our group decided to make dinner plans elsewhere, though a few of us intended to return for the music afterward. I arrived first and was handed two menus: the regular menu and the special holiday pre-fixe menu. I felt a bit frustrated because, having made other dinner arrangements, it seemed like they missed out on some business for that evening, yet there was a noticeable lack of concern from the staff. Despite returning for the music, the servers didn’t seem to recognize me, which is disappointing since I value good service above all else. One male server stood out as being attentive, but overall, service was slow, and I often had to flag down staff for assistance. If you're paying for live performances, it's crucial to create a comfortable atmosphere with knowledgeable staff. I do plan to return, as I've heard positive things about certain dishes on the current menu (as of January 2019). A friend loves the cheesecake, another enjoys the salads, and I particularly like the margherita flatbread, which is packed with juicy tomatoes and flavorful sauce. I’ve been exploring other venues for live music, and with the same performers starting a Sunday Jazz series at East Village Coffee Lounge, my future visits here will depend on who is playing and their schedule elsewhere. There’s so much potential here—the live music is fantastic, the venue is spacious and comfortable, and they even allow pets. They offer coffee from an espresso machine too. All the ingredients for success are present; they just need to develop a solid service program.
Our waiter, Chris, provided outstanding service. He was attentive, accommodating, and friendly—truly splendid! We'll definitely return just to experience his shift again. We also enjoyed listening to Austin Metreyeon play for a few hours, making the entire experience even better!
If you're in a hurry or on a budget, forget about it. This place has turned into The Big Ripoff. Think $13 and up for a mixed drink with well liquor or a Jack Daniels. Think $23, $24 for a very basic Bibb lettuce salad with a salmon fillet added. Also, note that the prices on the beer menu aren't accurate. The flatbread pizza is no bargain or gourmet dish, either. On the positive side--the hummus eggplant dish is a good value, and the calamari is better than average. The menu seems to change, almost from week to week, but for a hotel that has a sports bar and a full service restaurant adjacent to the lounge, the offerings are very limited. Service is friendly, when you can get it, but it can take 45 minutes to get even the most basic dish and half an hour or more to pay your tab. They tend to have good jazz on weekends, but they no longer announce the performers in advance, so you don't know who will be performing. Sad that the place has become such a sinkhole for your money and time.
I just flew in and found the entire city in darkness. I love how the lobby bar and lounge took very quick advantage of this power outage and created a light 's out menu with grilled items. I wasn 't really in the mood for something heavy so I ordered their Clam Chowder which was warm, satisfying and was seasoned with rosemary with a heavy hand. Which i totally liked. Love the fireplace in the middle of the lobby. Love the outdoor patio overlooking the greens. The bartender was friendly and very accommodating.
