Red's Donuts - Monterey

This place is an institution on the Monterey Peninsula. I've been on Alvarado Street for decades. I can't choose ONE favorite the glazed donuts are classic perfection. Love also their blueberry doughs. Once in a while, I splash on a Custard bar. This pastry cream... chocolate frosting billions of calories, but so good! Friendly service and love their $5 a dozen specials. NOBODY makes Donuts as good as Red's. Nobody!

The best place to host a Monday morning donut party!!

The best donuts ever!!! I was in town visiting some friends and had a craving for donuts. They took me to the only place in town and assured me that the donuts were delicious. They were not wrong at all. When I walked in, I could tell that the donuts were going to be amazing. The display case had a variety of options that all looked delicious. They keep the menu simple and focus on perfecting what they have, which seems to be their motto. The staff was very friendly and the taste of the donuts was just perfect - light and fluffy, with the right amount of glaze and a perfect texture. The prices were better than the chain donut shops in my area. I will definitely be back on my next visit.

Awesome. Bakers/Staff are absolutely awesome. Very chill, relaxed place. No pretension here. Kind of place you'll find older men reading the paper with a cup of coffee. Oldest shop on the block... and it shows it. I sat next to a crazy old lady for a while... just added to the atmosphere. Coffee is alright. Donuts are incredible!!
