Pacífica - Monterrey Mexico

Great food and great atmosphere. I really enjoyed the molcajete shrimp, the ranchero sauce was to die for. Service was great and the place is very cool and dark in the evenings.

The place looks nice. The food is plain OK. I ordered the Pescado Rasurado . It is somebody 's interpretation of the Pescado a la Veracruzana just flavorless. The service is very slow, even though, the place was EMPTY. They would serve a green salad without offering me any option of dressing. I asked for olive oil and balsamic vinegar. After nearly 15 minutes, my waiter would come with a little sauce boat with some dark liquid in it. I asked the waiter: what 's this? Did you mix the oil and vinegar? He replied Yes! . The liquid didn 't look oily at all. I tasted it and they simply served Maggi seasoning in the sauce boat. I asked, again, for olive oil and vinegar and asked to have them separate for me to dress my salad. He would come back just with oil. After asking for the vinegar at this point I was OK if it was white vinegar , the waiter said they don 't use vinegar in ANY recipe ?!?!? . Vinegar is a widely used ingredient in Mexican seafood!!! I used lime juice instead. Last but not least, I ordered the check and asked the waiter to add a certain percentage as tip. When he came back with the voucher, the total amount check tip exceeded in a few Pesos the amount I had previously calculated. The cashier decided it was best to round up the check to the nearest hundred!!! It wasn 't too much money but I considered it an abuse. This was the first and last time I eat here.

Here's a place taking a largely typical Monterrey menu I think , leaning heavily towards the seafood part of it *heart* and placing it in a trendy atmosphere. The terrace, though providing unimpressive views, creates an atmosphere on its own. Half the space is tiki-bar meets sports lounge trust me it works half a series of couches/fire pits. The dimly-lit inside also provides a nice ambiance, could work for either a date or a party.
