La Fonda - Montevideo

La Fonda is a charming restaurant in the old town that comes highly recommended for those looking for a comfortable and delicious dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere. With high ceilings, pleasant decor, a view of the kitchen, fresh ingredients, and attentive, friendly service, it's a great place to enjoy a meal.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. hard to explain how delicious all the dishes were. initially very cool concept with a daily changing menu, the local/regional ingredients. both main dishes we tried, pasta and fish dishes were incredible. both were very unique and clearly made very good. would absolutely love to come back here and would recommend everyone to visit.

A great experience of the mercado del puerto. they can feel the love in every dish, as all the ingredients are harvested on their farms. the waiter and host are smart.

I love this place and the people who run the restaurant can't be nicer. the menu changes constantly, but I never had anything I don't love. when they order, they will make everything for them. if they order pasta, they will make fresh pasta for them. when sitting in the front dining room, it is like eating in the kitchen. if they stay close to the mercado, this is one of the few places that are open for dinner on Thursday until Sunday. they usually have a waiter who speaks English or fork in the kitchen can help them. they take credit cards visum safe.

Went here for lunch, slow cooked pork was delicious, thought it’s unusual choice of a lunch dish for non-uruguayians. Lunch includes a free glass of wine, which surprisingly was pretty descent.
