Quiet place with local product kitchen.
The Chef cooked up (we were late :-) two very nice dishes while the very sympathetic waitress gave responses to our questions (getting somewhere quickly). Spark's is situated in an old factory (of mirror) in the middle of the Canal du Midi central point between the two watersheds (to the Atlantic and to the Mediterranean) where in the 17th Century P.P.Riquet realised the dream of linking both seas without any steam engines or other technicalities. Amazing. It all adds to the atmosphere of Spark's.They also do some rooms. A very good place to stop for the Chef.
This restaurant gets top marks for location in a beautiful park like area at the highest point of the Canal du Midi, but it is overpriced and food is mediocre. There is no menu, so you have to buy each course separately, unusual in a French restaurant, and this means you pay a lot. The starter was excellent, local jambon, slivers of parmisan and roasted asparagus, the main course, soggy skate on a bed of soggy pasta and more asparagus, and the dessert, a very poor relation of the local "floating nest" consisting of one scoop of ice cream resting on one finely chopped strawberry, and this floating in a sweet watery liquid of indeterminate progeny. Altogether a huge and expensive disappointment in a fabulous setting. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive.
Restaurant situé dans une ancienne minoterie.Site avec un potentiel remarquable. Cadre très agréable, sympathique et reposant.Produits locaux d’une grande qualité. Cuisine originale. Nous y reviendrons avec des amis.Serveuse très efficace, ne rechignant pas à accepter de nouveaux clients même passé 14h00, mais avec un manque d’empathie (probablement débordée pour servir vingt-cinq personnes toute seule).
