Contribuisci feedbackWhilst staying in les rosier studio which was perfect ...we went to the restaurant of the le relais du soleil d’or for an evening meal not understanding the menu we asked for help which we got from a young man.we ordered for me beef ...I was asked how I liked it cooked and knowing the French like their meat almost raw I said well done...my partner asked for chicken well done also ... Well when we got our food it wasnotwhat we asked for Blood was running out of my beef and the other meal was very dark and burnt which was chicken when asked what it was was told it was duck .my partner doesn’t eat duck .the same young man argued that we ordered duck ...didn’t offer to change meals and when we told him we weren’t paying he he rudely told us we will pay or he’d get police ... Wonderful customer service....so reluctantly we paid ....this is not a review of montignac overall it’s a Very nice area ..but we would just like to put our bad experience to people thinking of visiting....
We stumbled across this restaurant when arriving in Montignac on our last night, having found our planned restaurant, a few miles away, derelict! I parked up nearby and this was the first place we found, this being our only baby free night of the holiday we wanted a bit of a “date night”. Upon entering, the friendly manager (I assume) offered us any table the restaurant was very quiet so we sat in the front. It’s a beautiful building, part of a very pleasant large hotel, and is a really nice setting for a meal. My broken French was enough to get us started with a gorgeous bottle of wine, and we ordered starters of Foie Gras and beef carpaccio, then a main of roasted local duck, whilst I ordered the entrecôte steak. Upon arrival I was greeted with the biggest and tastiest steak I’ve had in a long time; my wife enjoyed the duck and we both loved our starters as well. We finished with two wonderful home made desserts before a walk up to the river, both stuffed and very satisfied! I noted some of the poor reviews before we ordered and I’m very happy to say the experience was totally the opposite. We both said we’d thoroughly recommend the food! Perhaps the only negative was the slightly clipped style of service, not overly friendly but very efficient and attentive.
Incredible people who watch and a menu of exceptional value to 14 euros (flat or dessert dish) is enough for lunch and quality was superb.
After a few days of tour in the southwest of the france, we fell on this charming town.
A wonderful Caesar salad with shrimp, panna cotta with fresh strawberries and white wine.
