Le Baron Rouge - Montpellier

For casual dining with friends or a date, Le Baron Rouge is a highly recommended choice. Squeezed between various other restaurant bars at a beautiful square in the center of Montpellier, you can gather here and nibble on French tapas and drink wine for hours. I especially enjoyed the vegetarian tartines and the mixed charcuterie plate. I heard the cheese plate is also excellent. We shared them and enjoyed a couple of good bottles of rose in a hot evening. A local friend introduced us to this restaurant/bar and we will visit again.

We were staying two doors away so literally fell into this wonderful bar on two nights of the four we were there. Great ambience, super service and the sharing platters of cheese, meat, pickles, bread were to die for ! Great wine list which was a bit pricey so we stuck to a couple of glasses.A really lovely place to eat, drink and chill!

Not hard to find once you've been there once but easy to overlook if you are wandering around the centre. I've had a couple of dinners at this wonderful but tiny spot. Tapas and wine and a great atmosphere make for a super location to spend time with friends. Cozy inside, be prepared to rub elbows with other diners. Clean and efficient bathroom.

Amazing hole in the wall place in a centrally located square. I sat outside. The waiter was friendly and patient with my lack of French. I ordered the small cheese plate (3kinds of cheese, fig jam, walnuts and bread) and 2 glasses of wine. The cheese plate was around €6,50, which was reasonably priced comparable to other restaurants nearby.Excellent food and wine!

I just popped in for something quick on my way back to my B&B which was very close by in the pedestrian area of the old city - and was glad I did! The ambience is cosy, I felt welcome and the staff were very helpful when it came to choosing a nice glass of local red from their extensive wine list. The planche, or board with prosciutto and salami along with a generous basket of bread made for a satisfying accompaniment. I'd definitely go back.
