While I can't say if it truly is the best since we haven't tried others, we had an excellent experience. The menu was creatively refreshing and featured a wide selection of sake, including a tasting of 4 for $20 which was great. The interior design was trendy yet relaxed, the food was outstanding, and the service was flawless. During our second visit, a dish we did not order was brought out, but the waitress quickly apologized and offered it to us on the house, and it was delicious. The portions were just the right size to share between two people, allowing us to try a variety of dishes. Overall, it was a great taste experience at a very affordable price. A 260ml bottle of sake cost $12.60 and was well worth it. If you enjoy Japanese cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit.
We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel concierge. The restaurant was bustling and had a great atmosphere. The ambiance was classy and the prices were reasonable. The food was fresh, creative, and delicious, with beautiful presentation. The wine list had a good variety of options available by the glass. We experienced a minor issue with the service mid-meal, but it was quickly resolved after speaking with a senior staff member. We believe this was just a one-off incident and overall, it was a good restaurant worth a visit.
We had a nice lunch in aszu. They have a large small courtyard that is quite charming. the food was good, the service was good. it seemed like more businessmen were there than tourists. but we liked it and would go back.
My wife and I wanted to take a bit before the light show in notre dame and this place was just a block away. the personal was very friendly and our server knew her wein. we ordered the cheese plate. our server asked our cheese...a presentation before the order. if we had not had such a big dinner, we would have gotten another drink in the evening.
For the price, I would say there are much better options within walking distance. The food was inconsistent (had perfectly pan-seared scallops in a brown butter sauce to start followed by a very disappointing and almost thoughtless sweetbread warm salad that I will always remember...for its negative traits). The wine list is decent, I just wish our waiter was more knowledgeable. He kept telling us he would have to check in with the sommelier to get his opinion, but I never once saw him talk to anyone I just saw him key information into his trusty computer. For a restaurant that takes such great pride in its wine collection, you would expect a sommelier to be on hand.
