Like your best pair of slippers or T-Shirt Bitoque will never disappoint. Food, ambiance, vibrancy, and art that pleases will be consistent. Depending on the server supper will be leisurely or at a faster pace. You can slow the server down. We have been there several times and the food quality has not changed over a four year period. It has improved with age. The Lamb Shank is a must. For transparency: My wife and I are acquaintances of the owner. Yet, in all fairness on several occasions we were there and he was not. My review is based on the several visits over four years.
My friends and I visited this restaurant on a Friday night before going to see a show at the Corona theatre. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was fantastic. We enjoyed a variety of dishes including a mixed salad, cherry tomatoes, grilled squid, sardines, cod croquettes, and a unique chicken Piri-Piri poutine. The only downside was that there was not enough cheese in the poutine. The option to bring our own bottle of wine or beer made the meal very affordable. We would definitely come back again.
Great food nice and quiet owner came by and spoke to us it was my birthday dinner, so he offered us free coffee and desert
Have eaten here several times and always a great meal! BYOW is a major bonus! I hate lamb but love the lamb shank at this restaurant. Its a large portion served on the bone. presentation is great. Pork cheeks melt in your mouth the sardines...are great, steaks always cooked the way we want them, delicious cod dishes and the piri piri chicken is juicy and delicious. My only complaints would be the portions of some of their tapas...like the cod cakes and the menu is all over the place and a bit confusing. The cod festival menu should be merged into your regular menu as most of the items are the same. Keep it simple and easy to read. Otherwise we love this place and would recommend to anyone that wants a home cooked style Portuguese meal. Herman, the owner is friendly and an interesting character.
