This restaurant is alright. It's usually easy to find a table without much of a wait, except on taco Tuesdays.
In terms of the concept, a fusion restaurant combining Peruvian and Mexican cuisine called "Cartel" seems a bit odd, but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the chijaukay chicken.
I have never given a bad review before... but this place has the worst service imaginable. The waitress didn't know anything about the menu, said she was new. That part was understandable. She brought me the wrong drink twice in a row (I asked for tall with no ice). I finally went to the bar and the bartender just ignored me - she wasn't busy - the place was empty. When I addressed her directly she was really rude - clearly very angry about something. She threw a tall glass with an inch of soda in it st me and stomped off. Meanwhile my friend waited 45 minutes for a glass of wine (in an empty place !). When she gave up on the waitress and went to the bar she was treated he same way. The bartender told her that "it takes time to open the bottle" and then walked away. The wine showed up 10 minutes later. The bartender is currently stomping around behind the bar looking like she wants to punch someone. The owner needs to look seriously at getting staff with appropriate customer service skills. PS the chicken was burned (badly ) but we didn't bother saying anything.
I have never left a review at a restaurant however made an account just to let you know what happened. Last night around 9:30pm we went to Cartel and ordered churros for food. When we started eating our churros, we both thought they were uncooked and mushy on the inside. However, our waiter, though friendly, never once came back to check on us to see how we were doing. He talked to someone who came in, then talked to the bartender and a guest for about a half hour after we were done our food. He finally came over and we asked for our bill. We didn't go anywhere else and headed back to our hotel. Around 2:30 AM, I woke up shaking and started vomitting. A couple hours later, my boyfriend started throwing up as well. We were hot, shaking, nauseas, and with severe stomach pains. This lasted all day, to the point where we had to miss our 130.00 micropub beer tour. It is now 7PM, and we are finally starting to stop throwing up. We believe the churros were the cause of this.
