When I saw they offered a guanabana shake (pictured), I couldn't resist trying it. While durian and jackfruit are commonly found in Vietnamese restaurants, this was my first time tasting guanabana. My friend enjoyed his meal, particularly the salad, despite feeling that it was dressed with French dressing. As for the guanabana shake, it was absolutely delicious - a frothy, milky, fresh, and sweet delight that left me beyond satisfied. I will definitely be returning to Lyla, not only for the amazing food but also for the attentive and knowledgeable waiter who took the time to discuss his personal meal recommendations with us.
Fantastic pho. Some of the best pho I've ever had, and really great imperial rolls and other apps. However, I've strayed to other parts of the menu and haven't been overly impressed. Stick to the pho and you'll be happy! Very reasonably priced, too the bill usually comes out to about $20 for two people.
Great soup and Nice attention from the staff. They were out of bananas for their fried banana so I had to choose some other dessert. A little while later, the waiter arrived with a fried banana on the house! A kitchen staff went out in the frigid cold -15C) to buy more bananas!
The standout item at the restaurant was definitely the durian shake, which was truly unforgettable and brought joy to my day.
Lyla is our family's favorite restaurant for pho and grilled meat. Situated on Jean-Talon, near Park metro, there is plenty of parking available in front or in the adjacent streets. The modern decor and cleanliness of the restaurant set it apart from other Vietnamese pho spots. At Lyla, there's no need to wipe your utensils before using them. We first tried Lyla when it opened 8 years ago and it passed my mother's high standards for Vietnamese food. We've been regulars ever since. While the pho remains delicious, the portion sizes have decreased over the years. To satisfy a big appetite, the grilled meats are the way to go. Whether it's chicken, beef, or pork, they are seasoned perfectly and served with nuoc mam, fresh salad, and your choice of vermicelli.
